We zoo people work hard everyday to provide a quality home for our animals and a great experience for our guests. It's just what we do. As such, I treasure the opportunities we get to show off our wonderful Zoosiana to fellow zoo-folks who are working just as hard at their own facilities.
Does the name Tanganyika Wildlife Park mean anything to you? If you're a devoted Zoosiana fan, then it probably does! Evangeline, our female giraffe, came from Tanganyika in October of 2012. The video of Evangeline first meeting our male giraffe, Gabriel, has been watched
thousands of times.
Matt Fouts, Assistant Director at Tanganyika, and his wife, Lisa, stopped in at Zoosiana this past weekend. I showed them our animals, projects, programs, and everything else we are working towards, and they had a great time! They even enjoyed seeing how Evangeline is doing since she left Kansas more than a year ago. I shared with them the fun memories of the giraffes' wedding we hosted last May and of the tremendous support and interest the Acadiana community demonstrated for that event.
We have toured countless zoo colleagues around Zoosiana and have also visited numerous other facilities over the years. It's a great way for us to share ideas and learn new concepts and practices. We look forward to the next time Matt and Lisa visit and we will continue to move YOUR Zoosiana forward with new ideas and goals.
